Fault 111: Internal Regulator Overvolt—M/G

Fault Description
Excessive voltage occurred at the motor/generator's 15 Vdc internal regulator, and disabled the motor/generator.
Circuit Description
The motor/generator is attached to the engine and provides power for the 48 Vdc system. It has its own
independent controller to regulate power generation levels.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
This fault can only be triggered by a failure of the internal motor/generator controller. Such a failure would allow
voltage levels beyond engineering specifications to exist in the 48 Vdc circuitry.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.

The fault did not repeat. Go to

If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Remove the motor/generator assembly from the machine.
Remove the motor/generator assembly from the machine. Refer to Chapter 5 of the 5010-H Service Manual.
Step 3: Remove the controller from the motor/generator.
Remove the controller from the motor/generator. Refer to Chapter 5 of the 5010-H Service Manual.
Step 4: Inspect the wiring between the motor/generator and the
controller.
The motor/generator and the controller each have cabling that connects to the other component. Inspect the
wiring between the controller and the motor/generator.
