Fault 31: 48 Vdc Key Switch Overvolt

InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
The 48 Vdc logic circuit has exceeded an overvoltage set point (67.5 Vdc). All 6 individual 48 Vdc key-switch
circuit overvolt faults (faults 82 through 87 for the motor/generator, RM1, RM2, RM3, RM4, and RM5) are active
at the same time. If the TEC-5002 is logging multiple overvolt faults, the likely cause is a motor/generator issue
(e.g., charging system failure, wrong type of batteries installed, etc.) When comparing a multiple overvolt event
to when the TEC-5002 is logging individual overvolt faults, the single component high voltage failure is likely
caused by a single internal voltage regulator issue within the component.
Circuit Description
The Reelmaster 5010-H 48 Vdc system includes a 48 Vdc battery array (4 sealed 12 Vdc AGM batteries
connected in series), an engine-driven motor/generator assembly, 5 cutting reel motors, a main contactor used
to energize the system, and additional circuit control components.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
The TEC-5002 reports a fault 31 if it detects that all 6 individual 48 Vdc Key Switch Overvolt faults are active at
the same time. The overvoltage threshold point is 67.5 Vdc.
Note:
This fault can occur if the TEC-5002 loses communication with the motor/generator (M/G) and the engine
is set to maximum rpm. In this mode, the operator loses control of the engine speed. The M/G communication
issue must be resolved before attempting to fix the overvoltage issue.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: With the engine shut off, check the 48 Vdc battery system.
The 48 Vdc battery pack is composed of 4 sealed 12 Vdc AGM batteries connected in series.
1.
Raise and support the operator's seat, then remove the cover from the main contactor
