Fault 29: 48V Battery Low Voltage

Note:
Fault 29 indicates a low-voltage condition in the 48 Vdc battery system, rather than an individual
component signaling a low-voltage condition.
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
The entire 48 Vdc bus system (including the motor/generator and all 5 cutting reel motors) is supplied with
32 volts or less.
Circuit Description
The 48 Vdc bus system provides a common 48 Vdc source for the motor/generator and all 5 cutting reel motors.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
If all 6 of the individual 48 Vdc bus devices send a bus low voltage fault to the TEC-5002 (i.e., faults 88 through
93), the TEC-5002 sets fault 29 instead of faults 88 through 93.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: With the engine running, check the 48 Vdc battery system.
1.
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage across the 48 Vdc battery pack
2.
It should measure between 46 Vdc and 58 Vdc.
Pass
The 48 Vdc battery system check was good. Go to
and follow the steps listed.
Fail
The 48 Vdc battery system check was not good. Go to Step 3.
Step 3: With the engine shut off, check the 48 Vdc battery system.
The 48 Vdc battery pack is composed of 4 sealed 12 Vdc AGM batteries connected in series.
1.
Measure the voltage across the 48 Vdc battery pack (). The reading should be 46 to 54 Vdc.
A.
If the voltage reads low, remove cutting unit 1 and both of the 48V battery covers
