Fault 6: Key Start Timeout

Fault Description
The ignition switch was held in the S
starting function.
Note:
The operator can rotate the ignition switch to the O
switch to the S
position again.
TART
Circuit Description
The ignition (key) switch has 3 positions: O
arm. The TEC-5002 monitors the operation of the ignition switch.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
If the ignition switch is in the S
more than 30 seconds, this fault is reported.
Important:
The key may have been intentionally held in the S
because the operator is having trouble starting the engine. Refer to the Starting Problems table in the
Electrical System chapter of the 5010-H Service Manual.
Note:
After 30 seconds of engine cranking, the TEC-5002 output to the start relay is de-energized even if the
ignition switch is kept in the S
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.

Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to

Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to

If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Cycle the ignition switch.
Turn the key to the O

Do not allow the starter to spin for more than 30 seconds.
