Fault 2: Engine Coolant Temperature
High—Engine Shutdown

Fault Description
The TEC-5002 detected that the engine coolant temperature is over 240 °F (115 °C) for more than 10 seconds.
Circuit Description
The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sender is a submersible thermistor that sends a voltage to the TEC-5002.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
The TEC-5002 monitored the engine temperature being more than 240 °F (115 °C) for more than 10 seconds.
Note:
The temperature threshold for fault 1 is 220 °F (104.4 °C). Fault 1 should be reported whenever fault 2
is reported.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Set the parking brake and shut off the engine.
2.
Open the hood. Allow the machine to cool off for 30 minutes.
Note:
You may perform parts of Step 2 while you are waiting.
3.
Close the hood and start the engine.
4.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to

The fault did not repeat. Go to

If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Perform cooling system maintenance according to the 5010-H
Operator's Manual.
Refer to the Checking the Cooling System and Cooling System Maintenance sections of the 5010-H Operator's
Manual.
Check the cooling fan for proper functionality.
Check the air flow passages to ensure that they are clear.
Check the coolant level to ensure that it is within specification.
