Fault 87: 48V Key Switch Overvolt—M/G
Important:
For this fault, the term "key switch" refers to the 48 Vdc logic power circuit, not to the
ignition switch.
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
The motor/generator (M/G) controller has detected that the logic voltage has exceeded the high voltage limit.
Circuit Description
The M/G shares the 48 Vdc logic power with all 5 cutting reel motors.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
When the M/G controller detects that the 48V logic circuit has exceeded the overvoltage threshold of 65
Vdc, the M/G controller disables its motor.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Determine the troubleshooting strategy.
If only the motor/generator is reporting a 48V Key Switch Overvolt fault, the problem is more likely to be with the
48 Vdc logic power connection to the motor/generator. Go to Step 3.
If more than 1 cutting reel motor and the motor/generator are reporting a 48V Key Switch Overvolt fault, the
problem is more likely to be with the 48 Vdc system voltage. Perform the Recommended Service Actions
for fault 31.
Step 3: With the engine shut off, check the 48 Vdc battery system.
The 48 Vdc battery pack is composed of 4 sealed 12 Vdc AGM batteries connected in series.
1.
