Belt wear is normal and the presence of a reasonable quantity of black dust should
not be alarming. If however the belt shows signs of significant wear, it should be
replaced
of the belt and, if necessary, adjust it.
Tension of the belt
The easiest and most reliable method to measure the belt tension is to use a tension
gauge with an optical resonance frequency meter, such as the Continental
CONTITECH VSM-1.
Below is the correct value for the belt tension
