Fault 41: 48 Volt Precharge Circuit Fault

InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
This fault indicates a failure associated with the precharge circuit that charges the bus capacitance prior to
pulling in the 48 V line contactor. A minimum voltage (38V) was not achieved. This functionality is built into the
motor generator to detect other motor faults on the 48 V bus.
Circuit Description
A failure exists in the precharge circuit that charges the 48 V line contactor. The 38 V minimum voltage was
not achieved.
Disconnect one motor at a time until the fault is no longer active. The S/G must remain connected because it
issues this fault.
Note:
If one cutting unit motor is reporting a communication fault before being unplugged, that is likely the
shorted motor.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Isolate the cutting unit motors to locate the problem source.
Disconnect one motor at a time until the fault is no longer active. The S/G must remain connected because it
issues this fault. If one cutting unit motor is reporting a communication fault, that is likely the shorted motor. The
engine cannot be started while this fault is active.
Step 3: Replace the cutting unit motor causing the failure.
1.
Remove the failed cutting unit motor.
2.
Install the replacement cutting unit motor.
3.
Go to Step 4 before testing the function of the replacement cutting unit motor.
Step 4: Use Toro DIAG to program the replacement cutting reel motor.
1.
Connect a PC with Toro DIAG software to the machine via a Toro DIAG Cable (Part No. 115-1944). Refer
