Fault 12: 48 V Contactor Open
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
This fault is reported when a failure associated with the 48 V contactor (or the contactor control circuit) occurs.
The starter/generator (S/G) measures the voltage on both sides of the contactor. If the key switch (48 V
logic) and bus voltage of the starter/generator (S/G) have more than an 8 V difference when the contactor is
engaged, this fault is reported.
Note:
If you are seeing a fault 12 and a fault 22, troubleshoot the fault 22 first.
Circuit Description
The main contactor connects the 48 V battery pack to the S/G and the cutting reel motors. The primary
controller determines when to tell the starter/generator (S/G) to close the main contactor. The S/G controller
checks for short circuits, and if there are none, engages the contactor.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Test the main contactor.
The main contactor is located underneath the left-hand cover assembly
to the Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual, Chapter 6, Electric Reel Contactor section, and
test the main contactor.
