Step 4: Test the generator assembly for proper function.
1.
Start the machine.
2.
Using the InfoCenter, monitor the 48 V system voltage.
3.
Generator voltage should maintain more than 32 V.
Pass
The generator passed the function test. Go to Step 5.
Fail
The generator could not maintain more than 32 V for a sustained period and failed the function
test. Go to Step 4.
Step 5: Inspect the internal S/G connections between the generator
and the controller.
These connections require a visual inspection.
1.
Remove the generator from the machine. Refer to Generator Assembly Service in Chapter 6 of the
Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual and follow the generator assembly removal procedure.
2.
Disassemble the generator to access the 3 internal S/G connections between the generator and the
controller. Refer to Chapter 6 of the Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual and follow the
generator disassembly procedure to access the electrical connections on top of the generator assembly.
Visually inspect the connections and wiring for damage and/or corrosion.
Pass
The internal generator connections and cables do not have evidence of damage or corrosion. Go
to Step 6.
Fail
The generator internal connections and/or wires have evidence of damage and/or corrosion. Repair
or replace all damaged generator internal connections and/or wires. Go to
Service (page 21)
Step 6: Install a replacement controller onto the starter/generator.
1.
Remove the generator from the machine. Refer to Generator Assembly Service in Chapter 6 of the
Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual and follow the generator assembly removal procedure.
2.
Remove and replace the starter/generator controller.
Step 7: Install the starter/generator assembly.
Install the starter/generator into the machine. Refer to Generator Assembly Service in Chapter 6 of the
Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual and follow the generator assembly installation procedure.
Step 8: Use Toro DIAG to program the starter/generator.
1.
Connect a PC with Toro DIAG software to the machine via a Toro DIAG Cable (Part No. 115-1944). Refer
to Toro DIAG - Quick Start
2.
Use the Toro DIAG software to reprogram the machine in accordance with Toro DIAG User's Guide. The
replacement starter/generator is programmed during the reprogramming of the machine.
3.
Disconnect the Toro DIAG cable from the machine.
4.
Test the machine function.
Pass
The replacement starter/generator controller functions properly. The fault no longer repeats. Go to
Returning the Machine to Service (page 21)
Fail
The replacement starter/generator did not fix the problem. The fault still repeats. Begin the diagnostic
process again.
