Fault 102: 48 V Key Switch Overvolt –
Starter/Generator
InfoCenter Display:
Important:
For this fault, the term "key switch" refers to the 48 V logic power circuit, not to the ignition
key switch.
Fault Description
The starter generator (S/G) controller has detected that 48 V logic power has exceeded the 65 V high voltage
limit.
Circuit Description
The S/G shares the 48 V logic power with all 3 electric cutting reel motors.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Determine the troubleshooting strategy.
If only the S/G is reporting a 48 V Key Switch Overvolt fault, the problem is more likely to be with the 48 V logic
power connection to the S/G.
If more than 1 cutting reel motor and the S/G are both reporting a 48 V Key Switch Overvolt fault, the problem is
more likely to be with the 48 V system voltage. Perform the Recommended Service Actions for fault 46.
Step 3: With the engine shut off, check the 48 V battery system.
The 48 V battery pack is composed of 4 sealed 12 V batteries, connected in series.
1.
Gain access to the batteries by removing the cover on the left side of the machine.
2.
Locate the 48 V contactor.
3.
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the 48 V battery pack across the main contactor. The reading
should be 46–54 volts.
4.
If the voltage reads low, perform the 48 V battery pack service as shown in Chapter 6 of the Greensmaster
TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual.
5.
Test the voltage on each individual battery. The acceptable range is 11.5–13.5 V.
