[ 3 ] Separation of paper

The separation roller in this equipment works to
separate the sheets of paper being fed. The
separation roller section consists of the feed
roller, separation roller, spring joint, etc. The feed
roller rotates in the direction of the white arrow
(shown below in the figure at right) at the same
timing as the pickup roller rotation when the feed
clutch is turned ON.
When two sheets of paper are transported
(shown in the figure at right), the lower sheet is
braked by the separation roller and not
transported any further and the upper sheet is
transported in the direction of black arrow since
the frictional force between two sheets is small.
(Example)
When only one sheet enters into the separation
roller section:
Since the transporting force of the feed roller is
greater than the braking force of the separation
roller, these two rollers rotate together to
transport the sheet to the registration roller.
When two sheets enter into the separation roller
section:
Since the transporting force of the feed roller and
the breaking force of the separation roller are
greater than the frictional force between two
sheets, the sheet A is transported in the direction
of the black arrow and the sheet B is braked by
the separation roller and is not transported any
further.
