The IVM should always be optimally positioned where it can monitor a majority of the telephone traffic.
Active tests can be performed only between switches that are configured to be managed by an IVM appliance.
When the Discovery process is unsuccessful, only schedule-triggered Active Tests can be performed between
these switches.
Telephones connected to a HUB cannot be discovered and therefore cannot be monitored.
