The following can be defined for a DO variable:

Description
The assignment of the DO number, the DO name and the description is optional.
The DO variable list is not used for verifications by Expert during the verification run.
The DO variable list from Expert is only used during package execution if the comparison
topology or user-specified topology is not used. The DO variable list is therefore only of
importance for the purely manual method of operation, where the user on the machine toggles
the DO variables to the DOs.
By assigning a DO variable, all components are identified that belong to a drive object (e.g. a
Motor Module, two Sensor Modules).
During package execution, values are assigned to the properties of the DO variables so that,
for example, indirect addressing of the DOs for reading and writing parameters can be
performed.
The DO variable list can be imported or linked as "*.uvdx" or "*.uvd" file. We recommend using
the same list in Expert and Topo. The easiest way to implement this is to store the DO variable
list externally and then link it in Expert and Topo.
Exporting DO variable lists and editing externally stored files of the "*.uvdx" or "*.uvd" type is
possible only via Topo.
Note that as of CMC 4.8, the UVDX (extended DO list) format should preferably be used. For
downwards compatibility, DO lists in UVD format can still be used.
