10.7 Installing an SMS Modem

Prerequisites
An idle serial port is available on the NetEco server.
Context
Bind an SMS modem (BOM number: 50030084) to the rack rail at the rear of the network
cabinet near the NetEco server using cable ties.

Connect lights in series, and connect the light near the AC actuator to the connector of
the cable delivered with the light (the female connector is used as an example), as shown
by (1) in Figure 10-16.
Cut off the connector at the other end of the cable delivered with the light, strip the
insulation layer from the cut end, and route the cable out of the aisle containment, as
shown by (2) in Figure 10-16.
The cable outlets for aisle lights are on the outermost skylight plate.
Connect the stripped end of the cable to the multi-cord end terminal onsite, as shown by
(3) in Figure 10-16.
Route the other end of the connected cable (as shown by B in Figure 10-16) through the
cable trough to obtain power from the AC actuator.
