IED hardware overview
The IED hardware consists of a case, modules, and a human machine interface (HMI). For
instance, Figure 5.1-1 shows the structure of the GRE-series IED which will be covered with
1/3×19" case. It consists of a transformer module (VCT), a signal processing and
communication module (CPU), binary input and output modules (BIO), and human machine
interface (HMI). Figure 5.1-2 shows hardware block diagram, which depends on the models,
cases and ordering numbers. The user should check and confirm the modules with the ordering
number, practically in advance.
