ENHANCED SYNCHRONOUS SERIAL INTERFACE 0 (ESSI0)
There are two synchronous serial interfaces (ESSI0 and ESSI1) that provide a full-duplex
serial port for serial communication with a variety of serial devices, including one or
more industry-standard codecs, other DSPs, microprocessors, and peripherals which
implement the Motorola Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).

PCI Voltage Clamp—When the HI32 is
programmed to interface a PCI bus and the HI
function is selected and the PCI bus uses a 3 V
signal environment, connect this pin to V
to enable the high voltage clamping required by
the PCI specifications. In all other cases, including
a 5 V PCI signal environment, leave the input
unconnected.
