Forward looking protection bay (CH)

Protection zone

Figure 1.1-1 illustrates a MainUnit and a SubUnit protecting four zones (ZoneA to ZoneF).

Every current, control and monitoring signal in a bay is bundled as a channel (CH); the CHs

are linked with the VCT and the BIO in the MainUnit and the SubUnit. We will discuss

hardware configurations in the foregoing sections.

MainUnit hardware

Figure 1.1-2 and Figure 1.1-3 shows that the MainUnit case is 1/1 case size of the 19-inch rack.
