hot expansion

Hot expansion enables components to be added and made available while the system is running.
Syntax
hot expansion -type
Parameter

Example(s)
The following example is for adding a drive enclosure:
CLI> hot expansion -type de
The following example is for adding a host interface port (host port expansion):
CLI> hot expansion -type host-port
Hot Expansion Procedure for Various Components
The steps involved in performing hot expansion of a drive enclosure are as follows:
Procedure
1
Mount the DE to be added to the rack.
2
Confirm that both IOMs and PSUs in the DE are mounted correctly.
3
Connect two SAS cables between the existing and new IOMs.
4
Confirm that the AUTO POWER(AutoPWR) switch of the DE is turned off.
5
Connect AC cables to both PSUs.
type_name
This parameter specifies the name of the component to be added. Only one component can be
specified at the same time.
host-port
Host interface port ( upgrading a single port model to two ports for the ETERNUS
DX80 S2/DX90 S2). An additional host interface port license must be registered.

Drive enclosure. (The drive enclosure number is automatically assigned by the
system.)
de00, de02, de03, ..., de09
Specify drive enclosure between de00 and de09. The range for the drive
enclosure number that can be specified is 00 to 09 (only for ETERNUS DX80 S2/
DX90 S2).
