Drive objects
Description
A drive object (DO) is an independent, "self-contained" software function that has its own
parameters and, in some cases, its own faults and alarms. Drive objects can be provided as
standard (e.g. I/O evaluation), or you can add single (e.g. terminal board) or multiple objects
(e.g. drive control).

Overview of the drive objects
● Drive control
The drive control handles closed-loop control of the motor. At least 1 Motor Module and at
least 1 motor and up to 3 sensors are assigned to the drive control.
Various drive control modes can be configured (e.g. servo control, vector control, etc.).
Several drive controls can be configured, depending on the performance of the Control Unit
and the demands made on the drive controller.
● Control Unit, inputs/outputs
The I/Os on the Control Unit are evaluated within a DO. High-speed inputs for probes are
processed here in addition to bidirectional digital I/Os.
● Properties of a drive object
– Separate parameter space
– Separate fault/alarm system
– Separate PROFIdrive telegram for process data
