Colorless Directionless ROADM Application
Up to four degrees of CD ROADM is supported. Each degree of ROADM requires an L100 (BDL1-3R11) 1x9 WSS
blade. Each L110 (BDL1-3B11) Optical Mux Base blade provides up to 32 add/drop channels to any degree of
ROADM.
The L110 Blade houses up to two 4x16 splitter/coupler PIUs [PIL1-3PS2]. Each PIL1-3PS2 provides client ports
(C1...C16) for up to 16 add/drop signals. Each signal from each client port can be routed to edge ports E1 through
E4, for example, signals routed to the E1 port are passed to degree 1 and the signals routed to the E2 port are
passed to degree 2.
At each L100 Blade, the cable from the appropriate edge port on the L110 Blade is connected to one of the client
ports (C1...C9) on the L100 Blade. The add/drop signals from the client ports are mapped to a channel on the
edge port (E1) of the L100 Blade. Pass-through signals between ROADM degrees can be passed through a client
port (C1...C9) on the L100 Blade at each degree to a client port (C1...C9) on the L100 Blade at the other degree.
The following figure shows an example of add/drop cabling for a 4-degree CD ROADM configuration.
