Install Fan Unit
Warning: Fan units are required to provide sufficient airflow (heat removal) through the blade. If a Fan
unit is removed, reinstalled, or replaced, reinsert the Fan unit within 3 minutes; otherwise, the blade and
service PIUs could be damaged because of overheating. The operating temperature is 5...40 °C.
Warning: PIUs can be damaged by ESD during installation or removal or whenever they are contacted.
Wear an ESD wrist strap with a minimum resistance of 1 megohm that is properly secured to the ESD
grounding wrist strap connection post to prevent possible PIU damage. Before using the strap, check it for
opens, shorts, and the minimum resistance value. If the strap does not pass these checks, do not use it.
Step 1
Locate the Fan unit to be removed.
Note: If the Fan unit is being replaced because of a failure, FAN LEDs on rear-left side of the blade can identify
which Fan unit has failed.
